Krumovgrad is 50 km. from the regional center Kardjali and 310 km. from Sofia. Makaza passage, where build border checkpoint with Greece is 40 km. Ivaylovgrad is located in the southeast part of Rhodopes Mountain. In south it border with the Republic of Greece. The first historical information for the today's Ivaylovgrad dated from IX and X century. In the Middle ages was built the citadel Lititza. (Lutitza). The town was destroyed during the invasion of the ottoman Turks in the Balkans. The Municipality of Ivaylovgrad is an ecologically clear region. There is a lack of big industrial objects that pollute the Nature. The Dam of Ivaylovgrad is situated on the territory of the Municipality, which waterside is 64 km and it is a significant place for eco and water tourism.

The archaeological excavations that followed revealed remains from antiquity of a Villa from the period of Roman domination on our lands, It became popular by the name "Villa Armira". At 7 km. southwest of Ivailovgrad, the Armira river is the medieval Aterenski Bridge most of the XVI century. XVI . Lutitza" fortress is one of the best-preserved in its original appearance medieval fortresses in Bulgaria. The fortress was built on an overgrown with forest, Rhodopes peak, called "Gradishteto", situated six kilometers westwards of Ladja neighborhood of Ivaylovgrad.

Ivaylovgrad Dam is 64 km. coastal strip. The third dam of the hydro-electric cascade Arda" was built in 1964 and one of the most picturesque in Bulgaria. Coast is immersed in greenery. Annually this is final regatta as canoe-kayak. In the summer most places become available in small camps, while som fish, carp, whitefish, perch, kefal, redeye, ukley and other freshwater fish. Area "Martha" and "Cimbala" on the southern coast are small holiday resort areas of buildings and separate areas for picnic
