Thracians - the ancient inhabitants of our land have left many traces of their culture. Tenth Anniversary called Thracians tribes, inhabiting the Southeastern part of Europe from the Neolithic era to the Middle Ages. Their number reached about 90 tribal groups - Odrysi, Gethi, Tribali, Mizi, Vitini ... Are engaged in agriculture and crafts, developed a lively trade.

According to Homer's Iliad, the Thracians participate in the Trojan War under the leadership of King Rezos, killed by Odysseus and Diomedes. First to found their own country were Odrisses (VI century BC). After the IV century BC., Thracians under the reign of the Macedonian state, the Roman Empire, Byzantium.

Foreign domination and the barbarian invasions adversely affect the Thracian population. Much of it is cut off and assimilation. After the formation of the Bulgarian state in 681, Thracians are the third ethnic group, which is involved in the formation of the Bulgarian nation.

Thracians established a rich and original material culture. The close contacts that they maintain the Aegean-Anatolian world, visible in the monuments of the megalithic culture toreutics (manufacture of metal products), tombs, etc.

In the Thracian religious beliefs combine sun and earthly home. In the pantheon of the Thracians rule Great Mother Bendida or Zerintiya. Her son and husband is the God of dying and reviving nature Zalmoxis. The Thracians had developed a strong cult of the dead. Deceased ruler after his death are catching up with the deity, and his tomb became a sanctuary. Their burial customs are complex and still completely unknown. Depending on the cult of the earth or fire, there were two funerals - in tombs or incineration.

The cult of Orpheus (Thracian Orphism) combines the cult of the earth and sun, appears in the middle of the II millennium BC. There are two levels: the aristocratic and the national. The first level is dedicated to the teachings and in the ethnic level are the others. The basis of the doctrine is the idea of self-development. Overcome test value is the spouse of the Great Mother Goddess and therefore is God. This idea is clearly evident from the Thracian Kings, who are both kings, priests and gods.


Golden Threasures of Panagyurishte
Golden Threasures of Panagyurishte is a rare archaeological monuments from the time of the Hellenistic Age. Consists of nine vessels with a rich decoration, weighs 6,164 kilograms. This phenomenon reveals the ancient art of the Thracians as a nation with a highly cultural artistic traditions. The biggest court - amphora with a handle in the shape of centaurs. Stage of its floor shows little Hercules, who killed two snakes. There are seven rhytons. Fiala weighs 846 g and has a diameter of 25 centimeters - the largest and most severe Fiala of the ancient world with a unique decoration.

Historical and Archaeological Reserve Sboryanovo
Sboryanovo is located 10 km. from Isperih in the canyon of the river Krapinetz. The first signs of life in these places were the late Stone Age and the beginning of the Stone-Copper Age. Thracian tribes spats turn around in the political, cultural and religious center (I mil.). The reserve includes more than 140 archaeological and cultural monuments of the Thracian-pagans, Christians and Muslims, some of which operate to this day.

National Archeological Reserve Kabile
The Reserve is 8 km northern from the Yambol. In 1965 the territory of the antique town became a protected object, a memorial of the culture and national archeological and architectural reserve. Here are the relics from the antique Thracian town. Kabile was an important economical, religious and culture centre, which was sprung up in the end of the II millennium B.C. In 341 year B.C. the town was captured by the Philip II of Macedon. After that is the residence of the Thracian kings Spartok and Skostok.

Perperikon
Perperikon (Hyperperakion, Perperakion) is in the Eastern Rhodopes, 15 km from Kardjali, in the 470 m high rock peak. Past him run Perpereshka gold-bearing river, with beautiful lake in the Studen Kladenets Dam. Along the river are archaeological sites from different eras, arranged around a natural center - Perperikon. The archaeological complex consists of a large megalith sanctuary, the holy city and fortress. Supposedly, it was famous in ancient sanctuary of Dionysus.

Tatul
Tatul is located 15 km east of Momchilgrad, one of the most imposing megalithic monuments in the Bulgarian lands. The complex consists of an ancient pagan temple and a medieval fortress. The sanctuary is the XII century BC. Here are transported victims of ancient Thracian gods. The central and highest place of the rocky peak hold two carved in the rock tomb. Around are formed many religious places.

Thracian Art Museum in Aleksandrovo village
Thracian Art Museum is opened on 15.05.2009 by Their Highnesses Akishino - Prince and Princess of Japan, was built with financial assistance from Japan. Thracian heritage in the region is represented by movable monuments of culture, covering the period of the late Iron Age. Visitors can learn about the most remarkable archaeological sites in the Eastern Rhodopes, Sakar Mountain and the valley of the Maritsa River.

Thracian Cult complex near Strelcha
Thracian cult complex "Frog mogila" dates back to the V century BC. The complex consists of the mausoleum and the tomb-temple. In the tomb were found chariot horse skeletons with ammunition and crockery. The medieval fortress Strelchansko Kale is on the right bank of the river used between IX-XIV century, it is therefore about 40 minutes. Are complex and interesting houses in authentic Renaissance style, remains of Roman settlement Thracian sanctuaries, bridges, scattered around the site, historical museum.

Thracian tomb near Mezek village
Thracian domed tomb was built in IV century BC. and is the largest and preserved tomb of this kind. Is an impressive construction of dry masonry, large boulders are associated with iron and oak brackets, the tomb is covered with 15-meters embankment. Its total length is 30 meters, corridor is 21 m., 1.60 m wide and high 2.60 m. Were found many objects of gold, silver, bronze, iron, glass, faience and clay from the IV - III century BC.

Thracian tomb near Starosel village
Thracian tomb in Starosel is archaeological sensation, the largest ever found cult Thracian royal mausoleum complex. Thracian tomb near Sveshtaeri village
The tomb was revealed in 1982, was a Thracian-Hellenistic tomb of the first half of III century BC This is the tomb of the ruler of Gath Dromichaetes built of smoothly worked stone blocks of soft limestone. It consists of a corridor and three square chambers. To one of the beds is facing facade sculpture of a miniature temple. The sanctification ritual of the king presented the semi-wall under the arch of the chamber.
